Just can't get rid of those Manic Drive Guys!

Not that we'd want to!

Manic Drive stopped by the studio yesterday afternoon and joined me for an interview. Those Canucks have been spending a lot of time in Texas lately, playing recently in Azle, at our Benefit Show, in Denison, and they were headed off for Corpus Christi. We chatted about their recent "Discovering America" adventures...which included getting lost (and developing British accents) in The Church At Azle and conquering aliens in Roswell, NM. You can see a video blog of their exciting adventures at their myspace, www.myspace.com/manicdrive. They also graciously performed an amazing acoustic version of "Eleven Regrets" for us live on the air. Thanks to the guys for stopping by!

Keep rawkin' for Christ!

Power FM Benefit Concert!

Hey Guys, Dawn here...
What a cool night this was! We tried as hard as we could to hint that something was going to happen at the concert that you would not want to miss, but we never knew when Eimi might be listening and we didn't want to tip her off! Drue had been planning this for months. He told the staff back at Thanksgiving to make sure we kept Jan 26th clear so we could all be there. It was really cool for us because, although we as a staff don't get a chance to hang out all together very often, we're all really close. We felt really honored that he wanted to share this moment with us, and with the listeners too! As for the wedding, not sure about the date yet but word around the office is that they'll prolly be getting married in California...

As far as the concert itself, well it rocked, of course! Patrick Ryan Clark started us off with an acoustic set, Eimi followed and of course, the BIG moment happened right after her set. Drue had been emceeing up to that point, but for SOME reason, he didn't feel that he would be available to host the rest of the show so Chris and I took over to introduce Rhythm, who is one of my favorite bands to see live! Those guys have so much class! Email and Adrian introduced our Canadian friends, Manic Drive, as they headlined the night with an amazingly tight set. They just keep getting better and better every time I see them.

It's been a long time since we've done a benefit show but this definitely whetted our appetite to do more. We know we'll be doing alot more community type events, like the Plano Super Bowl on Feb 16th. At the risk of sounding girly-girl, I'm going to try not to break a nail as I bowl for the first time in about 10 years! Pray for me... :))
We really enjoyed hanging out with you guys on Saturday night. It was a really special night for all of us. The only downside is that we're not sure we can top Drue's proposal at the next show. Adrian may not know it yet, but he might be tapped to propose to his girlfriend that night...we haven't decided for sure yet. Is Email dating anybody...:) Wait! Wouldn't it be cool if Drue surprised everybody again and he and Eimi actually got married at one of the events?!

Thanks to all that were there and we hope to see those who couldn't make it next time!
Bless Ya!

Finally Awake Winter Tour in Greenville

What’s up? This is Wes. I was at the Finally Awake Winter Tour with Seventh Day Slumber, The Cost and Sharif Iman on the 19th in Greenville. One of the best shows I have been to recently. The crowd was into it, and the bands brought some good stuff. The lineup was great. I think I speak for everyone by saying that the Spirit was there working through the music. The show started with The Cost a good local band that played some good stuff. Then came Sharif Iman. This guy was amazing, I had never heard of him before. His set was just him and his guitar praising God. I was blown away by the things he shared with us. You should definitely check him out www.myspace.com/sharifiman. He has some good stuff to share with you. Last came Seventh Day Slumber…. I can just say AWESOME!!!! They were rocking out for Jesus! I found out their drummer was sick, but the show still rocked my face off. Keep him in your prayers. Now I have to say to the Power FM listeners that were there…… YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME!!!! You showed the bands some love and showed POWER FM much love. You show up sporting Power Gear and then get more to support the station. It blows me away to hear all of the stories of how Power FM touches peoples lives. I love hearing them. People tell me how much they love the station and I immediately have something in common with them. I wish I could tell each listener how appreciative I am of their support of the station. So I will do it here….. THANK YOU ALL !!!

For those who rock for Christ, I salute you!!!!!!!!!!!

Hanging with After Edmund!

This past summer at Cornerstone '07, I was hanging with one of the radio promoters one evening and we were making plans to go to the Main Stage. The Main Stage is in the this valley, a bit of a journey from the campgrounds of the festival, so up the ridge is where all the golf carts park to watch the show from the back. Up on the hill, I was introduced to After Edmund and we had just started playing the single "Thank God" on Power FM. After Edmund is a band that is label mates with DecembeRadio, a band we love here at Power FM for their amazing sound and lyrics. So, I was talking to Mitch, the singer of After Edmund, and during our conversation he kind of awkwardly asked me for my cell phone number. I gave it to him and told him to call me if they were going to be coming through Texas.

So fast forward a few months and one morning sitting in my crib, my cell rings with an odd number and its Mitch saying, "Hey, Man! How's it going?" So, we talked for an hour about the music and ministry. When the band was in town for Shoutfest '07 in Sherman, I tried to catch up with them for some dinner or something, but they were crazy busy and had to bolt the next day for the next Shoutfest in Waco. Finally, got to catch them last night on the way to Houston, they came by the station towards the end of my show for a little on-air interview and hang time. They were really fun and it was great to hear about where the songs we play on Power FM actually came from.

After the interview I wrapped up my show and we all went to grab a bite to eat together at Chili's near the station, talk more shop and just kick back and have some fun. I can't say enough good and positive things about the members of After Edmund and what they carry through their lives as the Biblical Truth. I am honored to call them friends and look forward to the next time they play in the North Texas area. The record drops on Tuesday, February 26th and I want to show more love and support and I am going to go to the record store and buy one, just to be as cool to them as they have been to me. Let me assure you this band is for REAL, both musically and ministry wise. They are songsmiths and set performance at a new level, I look forward to see what 2008 has for them.

Keep it Loud for the Lord my Power FM peeps, and see you Saturday, January 26th at the Benefit Show!

Mad Respects,
-Drue Mitchell-

Crazy guys!

Even Adrian got in on the action!

Addison Road In Studio

Chris here and I've got to tell you I'm not very good at this blog thing.

You see, good blogging requires lots and lots of words about stuff with radical opinions that people can get really angry about and then post comments anonymously.

OK here goes...

Addison Road stopped by this morning and were quite charming.

The End.

Our Listeners Rock!

Hey guys! Rachel, here. I'm so glad we've set up this blog! I used to blog every day in high school! And when myspace and facebook came about, they kinda stole my time and attention away from my beloved blogspot. I eventually just deleted it... Well, Blogger.com, I'm back!!!

The first thing I have to do is give a shout-out to everyone out there who is either a Power Gear wearer or Club 3000 member or both! After church ended today I looked at the stage to see a volunteer wearing a recent Club 3000 gift. You know, the shirt with the cool atennae and arrows on it modeled after our awesome rave cards?

Well, I noticed the shirt, so I went up to him, and said "Thank you so much for being in Club 3K." He looked at me weird and asked if I was also in the club. I laughed and said I was actually thanking him because I was a DJ at the station. And it was so funny to see the wheels turning until they finally clicked into place. He said, "Oooh. You're that Rachel!" haha

I thanked him again and he said he would love to get a tour of the station, to which I responded, "Come on by!"

We love Club 3000!

First Post and a Visit from Ilia!

Hey, guys.
We decided that we wanted to start a station-wide blog to keep you up to date with what's going on behind the scenes at Power FM. It is our hopes that all of the staff members will contribute here and share what's going on, what's on our hearts, etc. Please fill free to visit often, comment, and enjoy!

Yesterday we were visited by an incredibly cool 5-piece, all girl band called Ilia. They played a show at The Church in Azle the night before and had the day off. They wanted to come by the station to say hello and meet everyone. I was able to give them a little tour of the place and introduce them to the staff (at least to those that were hanging around). They hung out for about an hour and a half and we had a great time getting to know them a little better. Hailing from Arkansas (and don't forget Tennessee), these girls may be young, but they've got a lot of heart and they can rock your face off. They certainly can hold their own musically, that's for sure. They'll be coming back through town again soon, and I hope to catch 'em...I'd love to see them live. Thanks to Lindsey, Melissa, Jessica, Katie and Alyssa for coming by to see us!

Thanks for reading our first blog...more to come soon, so stay tuned!

Jade =)
