Texas Fried State Fair

We hear these crazy stories every year about this time when the State Fair of Texas rolls around. Someone is always coming up with something new we can [Texas twang] DEEP FRY [/Texas twang]! This year is definitely no exception.

Topping the list: Chicken Fried Bacon!

I mean, seriously? Something as unhealthy as bacon, which is fried to begin with...then make it 10 times worse by battering it and frying it again?! Holy moo cows! Still there's a part of me that is curious. Haha! That's how they get us!

Here is a list of all things Fried: http://www.bigtex.com/foodlocator/

What do you find mind-boggling? Is there anything you can't wait to try? Let us know!

Keep rockin' for Christ!

On the Road Less Traveled we tried Falling Up into the High Flight Society, but the Benjamin Gate and its Guardian were in our way. As he was Turning, we said, "Run Kid, Run!" but content under his Red Umbrella, he wasn't Listening.

Nelson will come and take me to the House of Heroes where the Mainstay of the Big Tent Revival is when we send our RED Seabird to Holland. But this will only happen After Edmund, Miss Angie, and Poor, Old Lu are done Mourning September.

On Monday Morning the Delirious Kids In the Way who Inhabited Addison Road will be Casting Pearls that Glisten at Mae and Ruth's Slick Shoes.

Can YOU find all 80 band names?

How many can you find? Some are trickier than others, and some are much older than others, but they are all bands played on Power FM. I'll give everyone a couple of days to give it shot, and then will repost with the names in bold. Good luck!

Head is Coming!

Some of you may have heard of the band Korn… They are a secular band, whose music meant a lot to me, before I became a Christian, before finding Christ I was in a dark place and was able to identify with their lyrics. Long story short, I found Jesus and no longer need to identify with the stuff their lyrics spoke about and quit listening to their music, because I felt led to only listen to Christian music. Then, about a year or so after I got saved, I heard that Brian “Head” Welch, their lead guitarist and founding member of the band became a Christian. I WAS SO EXCITED BECAUSE I FELT THAT HEAD’S GUITAR PLAYING, was the reason I liked Korn’s sound. I said to myself, “ Man, I can’t wait till he releases a CD. A year or so after that I heard he was writing a book, you can find my review of the book here Save Me From Myself book review . In the book Head talks about writing music, and again I was excited with the prospect that head would be using his talent to write awesome guitar music to share things the Lord has done in his life. Shortly after reading the book I heard he was finally releasing his first single and then the full length album shortly after that. Well, the album, Save Me From Myself, dropped on 9/9/08, and all I can say is…..

The wait for this CD was well worth it! Head did not disappoint with this CD. I like EVERY SONG! My favorite songs are L.O.V.E and Adonai you can get the whole CD off of Itunes, or from his label itself Driven Music Store.

Also, Head is coming to Dallas on September 19, or a in-store book/CD signing at Borders Books in Dallas. You can find out more Info about that on Head's Myspace . Also, on September 18 Head will be doing another on-air interview with Drue. Keep listening for the exact time coming soon.

YAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYY!

What do you have to say about it?!?!
Plus, don't forget to visit this week's Music Polls to voice your opinion on the subject as well!

One Minute Halo

The guys from One Minute Halo stopped by the studio to chat with Drue today. They also just hung out for a bit and helped liven up an otherwise sleepy day.

Decyfer Down Again

Decyfer Down must like us. They drop in every chance they get. And we certainly don't mind, they're really nice guys! They stopped by in the middle of my shift today and I chatted with them for a few minutes about what they've been up to since our last visit, the new album coming in early 2009, their show tonite, and they treated us with an acoustic version of their new single, "Crash." According to the guys we got to premiere that little slice of audio to the world. How exciting (and it was very, very good indeed)!

They're playing an acoustic show tonite at The Abbey Church in Azle, and they'll be taking Q&A (apparently anything regarding the band, their personal lives and/or theological questions are welcome, "bring it on" they said!).

You can hear the interview here (minus the acoustic song, sorry...copyright laws and all that).

Keep rockin' for Christ!

August Get-Together: Paintball, Mini-Golf & More

Saturday many of the Power FM staff were at X-drenalin Zone and Mountasia Golf. Unfortunately all staff members chickened out of paint ball but we had a great time playing miniature golf and riding go-carts with listeners. I must say that Dawn was ready to paint ball but none of the other staff members were up to her challenge. Me, Drue, Rachel, and David had plenty of attempts on the go-carts. I am an avid golfer but I lost in an 18 hole competition to Club 3000 member Patrick. Drue, Rachel, David, and Leslie also enjoyed miniature golf. Thanks to the staffs of X-drenalin Zone and Mountasia Golf for having us out, and thanks to all the listeners who took time to spend with us over the Labor Day weekend.

I hope to see you at our next outing.

Eddie
